"Misty Mountains" is probably the most famous track from "The Hobbit" soundtracks. The lyrics are written by J. R. R. Tolkien himself. The melody of this song is exceptionally NOT written by Howard Shore, but by the 4 composers David Donaldson, David Long, Steve Roche and Janet Roddick, a New Zealand composer team that writes music for New Zealand film projects under the name "Plan 9".
