Lean bulk doesn’t mean you have to start out shredded! For men, it's best to start gaining muscle around 15% body fat or less, and for women, it's 22-25% body fat or less. Remember, these are just guidelines. Simply put, if you want to build muscle, but you have some weight to lose, lose the weight first.
