Description: World record: Archery fast shooting. 11 arrows shot up into the air before the first arrow reaches the ground. Record holder: Lars Andersen Date: 6/11-2011 Place: Gladsaxe Stadium. Country: Denmark. Controlled by independent judges. Filmed with 2 cameras.´ To see who can shoot most arrows into the air before the first arrow hits the ground: It is the simplest way to measure who shoot fast with a bow. It is very simple test requiring just a bow, arrows and a large piece of open land. Arrows to be shot one by one, and it is not permitted to use any technic aids. This test is known from many places, from the American Indian and in its medieval from Asia to Europe. George Catlin describes in his study of the Mandan Indians how they competed in shooting their arrows into the air in an attempt to see who can get the greatest number of arrows to fly through the air at the same time. The best is said to hold 8 arrows in the air at once, before than it first reaches the ground. The legendary Indian chief Hiawatha was to follow the myth able to shoot 10 arrows. Hiawatha myths have been declared absurd by Will Thompson (a pioneer of American bow hunting) In 1915 he wrote that no archer never had and never will get more than 3 arrows in the air at once. In the 1920s Saxton Pope (also a pioneer of American bow hunting) try this. After much training he achieved to have 7 arrows into the air, and in some cases, he reached almost the eighth. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The last 3 years I have seriously trained to see how fast it is possible to shoot with bow, I try to find a speed limit but have not found it yet If we accept that the historical source is true (and there are also other sources) Then there was in the past archers, who were able to shoot arrows at speeds less than 0.75 seconds for a new arrow and probably 0.5 seconds. I have tried to study all the modern archers who shoot fast, there are many good and talented archers and many good systems. But none of the modern systems I've seen can reach speeds near the historical. So I started from scratch and has spent a long time trying until I found something that worked Comments on my videos: I remove: stupid and not funny comments, childish criticism, but I would like to have sensible adult criticism. sincerely Lars Andersen
