Of course, scale tones & phrasing are the most popular elements, but there are others. These include; technical devices along with attention paid to rhythmic meter. The problem is, these elements are also ones that most commonly get left out of the guitarist’s line of thought. Once these elements can however be included consciously, guitar solos start to become better connected and all of this eventually leads the guitarist into the world of improvisation! In this lesson, I’m going to show you the best way to start thinking more about adding scale shapes, phrasing ideas, and technical devices. We will also focus on how to pay more attention to the ebb and flow of a solos rhythmic meter. These elements work to enhance the way a solo is organized converting the simplicity of mere static scale tones into well-developed musical lines. Having a high-level awareness for these elements will also add other added benefits you may not have been aware of, including the ability to start improvising.
