Description: In this video I am going to cover the importance of eccentric training. Adding eccentric exercises to your routine will make you stronger and build more muscle in the long run. When you’re training for both strength and hypertrophy, the eccentric phase can be very beneficial. Here’s what happens, when you slow the movement down your muscles are under tension a lot longer than they normally would. This is called Time Under Tension. Controlling the movement on the way down will recruit more muscle fibers which can lead to muscular development. Another benefit of eccentric training is that it strengthens your tendons, ligaments and all the connective tissues surrounding your muscle. This is really important because it will protect your joints and muscles from injuries.
