Description: If you grew up in the 80s and 90s, you would remember various national integration songs like, ‘Mile Sur Mera Tumhara’, ‘Baje Sargam’, and ‘Ek Anek Chidiya’. The original ‘Mile Sur Mera Tumhara’ introduced us to the diverse cultures and languages of India, but have you ever wondered who were those artists and sportsperson in that video? We searched lots of interviews, news articles, used Google reverse image search and were able to find out about most of them. So, for the first time, you will be able to know about these household faces whose names we didn’t know. The song was composed by Hindustani music legend, Pandit Bhmsen Joshi. Then comes, Shabana azmi where playback is by Bollywood singer, Kavita Krishnamurthy. Sindh is represented by Indian cricketer, Narendra Hirwani. The Punjabi portion features the cast of Doordarshan TV serial Tamas, Amrish Puri, Om Puri, Deepa Shahi, Dina Pathak, Bhism Shahni, Harish Patel and Virendra Saxena. The Tamil part features Bharatanatyam dancer Sudharani Raghupathi, Pratap Prothen and AV Ramanan. Then comes popular actress Revathi and KR Vijaya. Carnatic vocalist M. Balamuralikrishna comes next and Kamal Haasan features between his vocals. Karnataka is represented by its sportspersons like, Prakash padukone, EAS Prasanna and S Venkatraghavan. Bengal is represented by artists like Amala Shankar, Anand Shankar, Paritosh Sen, writers such as Sunil Gangopadhyay and Nirendranath Chakraborty, and sportspeople like Arun Lal, Chuni Goswami, Gurbux Singh and Leslie Claudius. Goa is represented by famous cartoonist, Mario Miranda. Gujarat by famous dancer Mallika Sarabhai. Marathi portion features Tanuja. Bollywood is represented by Waheeda rehman, Hema Malini, Sharmila Tagore, Lata Mangeshkar, Jeetendra, Mithun Chakraborty and Amitabh Bacchan. Lastly, the big group features greatest indian woman cricketer of all time Diana Eduljee.
