I picked a hardcore song because it's fun and gets your blood pumping, plus Varials are a great band out of Philly that are near and dear to my heart. Edit: It seems a lot of people are asking about the recording setup used here. You'll see one "overhead" dynamic mic for direct sound, but there's also a bass drum mic used as well as an iPhone plug-and-play mic for room noise. I find it picks up cymbal/ambient sound very well and I'm pretty happy with the outcome. Some folks are also requesting a rig breakdown.
