Description: In this episode I'm detecting a forest located on a hillside. After a short walk I found a cozy spot to start. It looked (and felt) already detected, but I could still make a few small finds like 1700s buttons and a ring. It was windy that day, even some trees have fallen, I had to be very cautious in the forest. The finds were rare, but nice. What sounded like possible iron (at some point) turned out to be a unique relic from 1700s. I could estimate the age, because of its appearance, but I didn't know what it was. If it was a razor, the blade would be made of something else than copper. After some cleaning at home numbers started to appear. It must be some sort of foldable ruler. A very cool (and rare) find in my opinion. I also found what looks like a WWI cockade. Unfortunately I made two big cleaning mistakes... First I applied something that must have reacted with (organic?) paint. When a plated surface started to shine through, I made it even worse and tried to preserve it with hot wax... Desaster! The paint reacted sensitive to heat and started to melt. Another lesson learned the hard way. This mistake overshadowed the whole hunt and made me sad for a few days. But life goes on... The 1800s "Kreuzer" coin on the other hand was already in bad shape. If you want to see how it looked like "new", you can visit this website for a better example: en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces29523.html I was detecting with a deer close by. I got real scared when all of the sudden "Bambi" turned into a monster - it was the zombie deer that sometimes follows me around! I can be thankful that he didn't try to eat me alive. Fortunately I was out before he was able to call his friends :). I hope you liked this adventure.
