Description: CSX Freight Train Hits Railway Crossing Gate Laying Across The Tracks! First we see the gate fall down onto the tracks right after a semi hit it. A Train was coming from Indianapolis, passing through Hamilton, Ohio on the way to Cincinnati. The train was passing the old train station at the wye. Amtrak and Norfolk Southern trains pass through here also but they run on the other side of the station. Another Railfan saw the semi truck hit the gate. I started filming just as the gate was about to fall apart onto the tracks. The train station is going to be moved a short distance away from the tracks and will be restored and possibly used as an Amtrak stop. The next train in this video is a Norfolk Southern freight led by a Burlington Northern Santa Fe locomotive. It also has a Norfolk Southern and a CSX locomotive. This long train is just north of the train station. It is passing the old abandoned paper mill buildings. We take a close look at the rail on the abandoned railroad siding. The broken crossing gate was radioed in by the crew in the locomotive. I know that they repair them very quickly because 2 other times that I have filmed crossing gates get knocked down I have seen the crews fix them almost immediately. These gates are very heavy and not very expensive to replace. Try lifting one of them. This one still had the electric cable hooked to it so you wouldn't be able to just pull it away. It is not worth risking your life to get in the way of a moving train to attempt to run up there and move it by yourself. I'm starting to wonder something. Am I wasting my time by typing in descriptions to videos? Reading through the comments I see that very few people read them. I am going to cut down or eliminate descriptions. The next person who corrects me on how rail is weighed will be blocked. It is weighed by the yard and not the foot. 122 stamped on the side of rail means that it weighs 122 pounds per yard. The radios that I use are transceivers and I am licensed by the FCC. I only transmit on frequencies that I am licensed for. There, that's my rant. Filmed April 7, 2022. Thanks for watching!
