Description: Tsutomu Yamaguchi was a Japanese marine engineer who worked for the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. Yamaguchi was sent on a business trip to Hiroshima on the last day of trip on 6 August 1945 as he was walking to the Mitsubishi’s shipyard. He heard an American bomber dropping a small object. Suddenly, the sky erupted in a blaze of light. Luckily, he had just enough time to jump into a ditch. The blast quickly covered the morning Sun and there was darkness with falling ashes all around. Yamaguchi was only 2 miles from the Impact site. Somehow he survived the impact but at a cost his eardrums were ruptured and body was burned. He spent the night in a nearby Air raid shelter. On Aug 7, he got up and ran towards train station. He sat on the train that headed towards his hometown. Bad for him, it was Nagasaki. On Aug 8, Yamaguchi arrived in Nagasaki and went for treatment in nearby hospital. On Aug 9, Yamaguchi went to Mitsubishi’s Nagasaki office as he was explaining what happened to the manager. He saw another large white flash of light. Another bomb was dropped within 2 miles of his office. Luckily, the city's hilly landscape saved him for the second time, he survived nuclear impact.
