Description: Since its inception.. There has been a pretty straightforward path that all athletes have walked in order to make it to the NBA.. play basketball in high school.. And nowadays probably some AAU as well.. Perform good enough to get the attention of collegiate scouts.. Get scouted by a Division 1 college.. Play there for a year or two and then enter into the NBA draft. Like I said, for the longest time this was the tried and true way for athletes to elevate themselves onto the professional level. However, over the past decade a shift has started to take place… and that shift is players deciding to forego the usual path that leads to college before the NBA.. and instead opt for more unconventional means to get where it is that they are trying to go. And one of the main reasons that some players have decided to do this.. Is because more and more people have started to see the NCAA and college sports for what it really is.. An exploitation of young talent in order to profit off said young talent. As the topic of college athletes not receiving financial compensation for their sometimes literally back breaking labor has become a big enough topic in order for the US government itself to step in and investigate what's been going on behind the scenes of one of America's longest standing traditions. That is until LaMelo Ball and a handful of the nations top High School recruits chose different paths and are creating their own way to the NBA.
