Remember when Russ choked the game against the Thunder away, pulling up for a dumbass 3, falling asleep on defense, throwing the ball away. I was so confident that Russ was gonna mess up again that this whole video was recorded before whatever game he messed up in now. I just planned to release this video after his latest mess up which is… Whatever that is, it’s bad. And probably fits into the problem. That part was recorded before he had this game against the Trail Blazers. Bro, look at this play by play. Man went 1 of 13, 6 turnovers, airballed multiple shots... And now he wants to play "harder". Man about to play the Lakers into oblivion. He almost killing people with his midrange. Simple, to the point, the problem is that Russell Westbrook has failed to go with the flow of the game, failed to use his teammates, failed to realize his own flaws, and failed to use his strengths. Russell Westbrook is confident...to a fault. He believes that he is capable of carrying a team, and he's not fully wrong. He can carry a team...just not to wins. It leads to possessions like these where he is just trying to do everything himself... even when he's had Kevin Durant and Paul George. We know the story with teammates leaving and becoming All-Stars, teammates scoring averages going up, winning championships, I'm just giving a snapshot here, but in all those situations, Westbrook has been the common factor. His on and off numbers are atrocious. Forget the bad spacing and shooting, Russ isn't even doing what Russell Westbrook does well. Let's not just be ignorant to the obvious. Russ is missing some easy ass layups. I'm talking layups, I'm talking putbacks, I'm talking the type of shots that if you miss them in 2K, a controller is getting broken. He's shooting 48% from the paint which down from his normal 55% on the Rockets or 56% on the Thunder. It's just bad. Just like insane performances aren't sustainable, missing shots like these also isn't and so he has to regress back to normal. If he doesn't, well the Lakers...they're going to struggle even with LeBron. And what about his midrange? I remember Westbrook having a good midrange, and I was wrong. He's shooting 40.5% from midrange this year, which is down from the His field goal percentage from midrange has never been good, it was just more acceptable to shoot at a lower efficiency, but the league has gotten better, and Westbrook has stagnated. So actually, while the misses may be worse, like significantly worse, this is nothing new. And then there's his defense. Even if things offensively aren't going his way, Russ who goes at 100 every game should be better defensively. We could look at the defensive ratings which place him at outside the top 40 in all guards playing above 30 minutes a game. But defensive ratings don't say everything, but these boneheaded plays do. Here Russ, falls asleep and literally does nothing. And of course this play, Westbrook runs at the ball, but doesn't commit and is guarding no one...again. This happens a lot throughout the games. Even opponents shoot better with Russ's defense, 8.3% better. Compared to the past couple of years where it's either been 1 or -1%. Yeah it's gotten really bad this season, Russ is no longer average, he's a liability. It's looking bad right now, like real bad. But a lot of these problems are what we expected. So we can't act surprised. It's the duality of Russ. The highs, and the lowest of lows. The Russell Westbrook Experience, but not really because we're not getting the good parts of Russ and without that, the Lakers have no shot of succeeding. But what do you think? What should the Lakers do?
