Description: Finally! We now have information on StarLink! Thanks to Brian Gifford and this interview with Kelly and Marshall from Camp Addict... Here is what we know. You will need to have a "service" address and a shipping address. You need availability from Star Link at your service address and then you can have it sent to a different shipping address if you need to. Enter the shipping address where you can receive Fed Ex and where you can pick it up. But you need to find an available service area. You can be in a different area from the service address. You should have the updated firmware in order to roam once you get the unit. ***It pulls around 40-50 Watts for this system continuously.***So you have to make sure that you have enough solar power to run this. Now you can have the freedom to travel anywhere and have internet anywhere you go! There are also pole adapters that would make it more difficult to steal. Also it helps the item to stand up taller and be less obstructed. And they even have month to month service so you can cencel when not using it! WEBSITE: StarLink.com COST: For the Dish itself: $599.00 for the dish plus shipping and tax Service-$110 dollars per month for unlimited- You are charged for the first month when you sign up. SET UP INSTRUCTIONS: 1) Once you get it from StarLink, the set it up it is very simple. There is the dish itself and the router and a cable between them. 2) Plug both ends of the cable in. One to the dish and one to the router. Then the router itself has a power cable. That is a 120W power outlet. So it is not a 12V. It will have to be plugged into your inverter or solar generator. 3) Then plug the dish into the tripod that comes with the basic kit. Set it outside where it has an unobstructed view of the sky and then the router will boot up. 4) Then the dish will move itself and go flat to figure out where the sattelites are. 5) Then you install the app and connect to StarLink's WIFI. As soon as you log into that ... it has you rename the network and enter a password. 6) Make sure that you are in an open area! Then it will run you through the set up. On the app after 12 hours it will show you any obstructions. 6) You can turn off the heating elements inside it to save on power. There are 3 options.
