Description: Compilation of early photography showing building interiors throughout the 1860s. Inside views that weren't taken in photo studios are pretty hard to come by in the mid-1800s. Unsurprisingly, most of the surviving photographs are from the well-to-do and exhibitions of the time, but I was also able to find a couple scenes of workplaces, offices, middle class homes and other scenarios. The interior details of so long ago are very fascinating to see in this day and age. My recent process of making photo galleries was used again here - tracking down dozens of high-quality images, fixing rotation on printer scans of very old photos, adjusting brightness/contrast for liveliness/overall consistency, then organizing chronologically and finally adding captions for context. The background music is String Sextet No. 1 in B♭ major, Op. 18 by Johannes Brahms written in 1860. Enjoy the historical slideshow.
