Description: Have questions? Look here. Q. What language is it in? Why? A. We play New Vegas in Italian because it's the fastest language for this game. Italian is 4 seconds faster than English. The time difference is during Doc Mitchell's opening dialogue, which cannot be skipped. All other dialogue in the game is skipped. Q. How are you flying around? A. This glitch is called reload dashing. By utilizing a bug in the engine involving one-at-a-time reload animations and swapping ammo, we're able to store a W (forward) input while we unequip our revolver, allowing us to slingshot farther. Q. How are you glitching through walls and skipping dialogues by making your screen flash black? A. Quicksaving and quickloading allows for us to skip dialogues and clip through walls. Q. What's that weird jumping and looking to the side thing you keep doing? A. This is called stop-hopping. If you jump and hold W while in air, but then let go as soon as you land and jump again while flicking your camera to the side, and repeat the process, you'll gain a lot of momentum. Q. What mods do you have installed? A. None, this speedrun is done with the standard version of the game. Q. What patch are you playing on? A. The most recent one. Reload dashing is possible on the most recent version of the game, and actually wasn't possible in early builds of the game, so we need to play on the most recent version. Q. How come your timer keeps pausing? A. We speedrun on PC, which means that there is a lot of variability between each runner based on how good of a PC they have. This means people with better PCs have much faster loads. To combat against a pay-to-win nature, it is very common for PC speedruns to use what is called a load-remover. Load-removers function by constantly reading the state of the game for markers that indicate the game is in a loading state. When the game starts loading, then the timer pauses itself until the game stops loading, making sure that we only account for the time where the player is actually playing, and not just sitting there waiting for the game to load. Q. What's the world record? A. You can find the current record at speedrun.com/fallout_nv. Q. This isn't a real speedrun, you cheated. A. That's not a question, but if you want to see glitchless runs, check out speedrun.com/fallout_nv. Q. When/where do you stream? A. I stream at twitch.tv/tomatoanus and have my schedule listed in my bio there. Q. What music were you listening to? A. I was listening to the following video while doing this run: youtu.be/dVfMfeisWO4 Q. What're your thoughts on Fallout 76 and are you going to speedrun it? A. It's a bad game and will be a bad speedrun. I'm still going to do a run of it eventually.
