Description: Roger Hodgson co-founded Supertramp in 1969 and was the driving force behind what fans call the 14 golden years of the band. He wrote, sang, and arranged the enduring rock standards that made Supertramp a worldwide phenomenon with album sales in excess of 60 million. “Dreamer" was the first hit song Roger ever wrote and composed and it became the first hit song for Supertramp. In addition to “Dreamer,” Roger also gave us timeless classics such as Give a Little Bit, Breakfast in America, The Logical Song, Take the Long Way Home, School, It's Raining Again, Fool's Overture, and many more. "I'm fortunate to have written songs that have become hits without ever trying to write one. I’ve never been successful ‘trying’ to write a hit song. Inspiration has come to me in many different ways. The inspiration for ‘Dreamer' was born out of excitement and just erupted out of me. I managed to get my hands on a Wurlitzer Piano and I took it down to my mother’s house. It was the first time being alone with one and when I started playing it, the song just exploded out of me. I made a magical demo of it on a 2 track tape recorder, using lampshades and cardboard boxes for percussion. Looking back, it was quite auspicious that as a young songwriter with so many dreams I had my first hit with a song named Dreamer. It’s a song and lyric that seems to have captured the imagination (and dreams) of people worldwide.
