Description: Disney and Pixar's latest takes the ever-popular "I Was A Teenage Werewolf" monster-puberty allegory and ramps up the awkward adorability for an infectiously sweet, surprisingly thoughtful and energetically funny coming of age comedy about a Chinese-Canadian teenager who learns that a family "blessing" causes her to transform into a gigantic Red Panda when stirred by strong emotions. Gets a ton of mileage out of playful but achingly earnest nostalgia for early-2000s tween girl pop-culture, but the real power is in a refreshingly nuanced mother/daughter dynamic and a different kind of "good kid steps out" story.
