Description: JakesCustomKnives.com Remove rust from tools using vinegar and a wire brush. I was given this old hewing axe and I wanted to restore it without using a grinder. One way to do that is white vinegar, soaking rusty metal in vinegar will eat away the rust and leave a clean rust free axe head. I soaked the axe for 25 hours before using the wire brush. I couldn't find any makers marks on this axe.
