Description: Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen Ch Soletrader Magic Mike last week had great success winning the Hound group and then Reserve Best in Show at Crufts 2019, so lets go back a few years and remember another phenomenal day in his career. 30 of the UK's most successful champions met at the Eukanuba Champion Stakes Final and a winner to be chose by two secret judges. Earlier in the day the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen Ch Soletrader Magic Mike won the Dog World/Eukanuba Pup of the Year Final (Watch here: youtube.com/watch?v=gK1tR5eB5H0) who also qualified for these finals - so there was a possibility he could win both...... Well yes! The Pup of the Year winner became the Eukanuba Champion Stakes winner and one of the UK's representatives at the Eukanuba World Challenge. The final's judges Bill Browne-Cole and David Guy were only revealed to the crowd and finalist minutes before the competition kicked off. They scored each out of 100 from which the top 8 returned to be judged and scored again - the final 8 were: Austin - Ch Hearthside Man of Mystery at Dialynne - Australian Shepherd Jager - Ch Vandreem Imperial Cruz - Samoyed Sybil - Ch Drakesleat Scent Sybil - Miniature Wirehaired Dachshund Nora - Ch Bayard Forget Me Not - Beagle Martha - Ch Shalfleet Sugar Frosting - Whippet Peti - Multi Ch Sh Ch Polcevera's Ercole - Bracco Italiano Mike - Ch Soletrader Magic Mike - Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen Vinnie - Sh Ch Veratey Vincenzo at Cassom - Cocker Spaniel And capping of an unprecedented Pup of the Year and Champion Stakes same-day double was Magic Mike the PBGV. Nora, Ch Vanitonia Unwrapped the Chinese Crested won both prize in the same year a few years ago - but the events were held 8 months apart.
