Description: Do rats have empathy? Maybe this video can answer that query. I use McDonalds fries to lure rats into traps. I caught a small male rat and this set off a another larger male rat doing everything it could to rescue it's trapped buddy. All the time there's a meal of McDonalds fries in another trap and that's ignored. I have caught many rats in these traps and I use Arlo security cameras to see what's going on. But this rat rescue was the first time I saw this behaviour. The only thing that stopped the rat rescue was the morning light. These rats are creatures of the night.
