Description: A lash up is a grouping of locomotives used to pull a train. This is sometimes also referred to as a locomotive consist or power assignment. For many railroad enthusiasts, the most interesting part of a train is the lash up of locomotives used on the head end, or front. Part of the reason for this is because the front of the train is typically the most eye-catching part, particularly when it comes to photography. Personal preferences vary, but in general, the three things that make a locomotive lash up interesting are the use of multiple different types of locomotives, a variety of different paint schemes, and last but not least, locomotives from two or more railroads in the same consist. For this video, I’d like to take a look at several different locomotive lash ups I’ve captured on the BNSF Railway in recent years that I find interesting. These clips include trains that meet one, two, or in some cases all three of the criteria I just mentioned. Our focus will once again be in the Pacific Northwest region of BNSF’s system. #trains #BNSF #locomotives CoasterFan2105 is the home of all sorts of train and railroad related video content.
