Description: Hey everyone, I've been slowly working my way up to shooting the 105 pound bow. Here's an old build that I uploaded but did not post. I had filmed both this and the youth recurve and decided to go with the youth recurve instead. Enjoy! Original Description- Hey everybody, I've been getting a lot of requests for a video on making a PVC longbow, so I figured I'd jump back into putting up videos with this one. We will be building a slightly asymmetrical PVC longbow (more accurately a flatbow). This is a good light weight target bow and makes a great youth bow. It's only 60 inches long (58 ntn), so it is a little short for a longbow, but it is a smooth-shooting bow. In this first section (which is broken into two parts just because it got too long), I'll show you how to flatten the bow's limbs, taper the tips, shape your handle and cut the string nocks. In the next section we'll be covering finishing the bow, making it look nice and measuring the draw weight. To build this bow, you will need some sort of heat source. A heat gun or propane torch would be best followed by an electric or gas stove top. You will also need a PVC pipe (5 foot long, 1 inch inner diameter schedule 40), a flattening jig, and a saw. The flattening jig is simply a 1x4 finished pine board with two 1 inch tall spacers on one end to establish your bow's thickness near the handle. So give it a try and let me know what you think.
