Description: There are 2 basic rules to pruning apple trees. Prune in the winter for form and prune in the summer for production. Let's take a walk out to the orchard and I'll show you how to prune apple trees, or at least how I prune them. We'll identify fruit spurs from water sprouts and get these trees cleaned up and ready for spring. These are my espalier trees so they're much easier to prune than full size apple trees and that's just the way we like it.
