Description: Playing piano with two hands is the biggest challenge learners of the instrument face, and it remains a challenge throughout your life as a pianist — playing hands together is flat-out difficult, because it’s not something your brain has evolved to do. In this tutorial we’ll look at three techniques that make playing with both hands on the keyboard much easier, and hopefully give your hand independence a big boost. As well as looking at the number one piano exercise for two-handed playing, we’ll cover two practice techniques — push-past and time suspension — that you can apply to hands-together playing with powerful effects. You should be able to use this tutorial with more or less any piano or keyboard. What are your experiences of learning to play the piano with two hands? Let me know down in the comments!
