Tonight I talk a little about the late write David Foster Wallace and the sadness in modern American culture. I originally intended to talk for 10 minutes before reading one of his essays, but am not that disciplined, so this is just it's own episode. I'll make a separate video reading the essay and link it here (when i record it). "Shipping Out: On the (nearly lethal) comforts of a luxury cruise" is about his experience on a luxury Caribbean cruise. It was about the absurdity of how hard the company-at-sea tries to avoid the discomforts of their patrons, and how paradisal these manufactured, "FUN" activities, entertainment, meals, and relaxation can really be. The unnaturalness of it all is both hilarious and sad. Thanks for watching.
