Description: Metal detecting with another big surprise! I could only detect once during the last three months... I decided to go out this week and see if my psychic powers are still working. I've seen this tiny spot a few days before during a hike. You saw what happened... A few coil swings unveiled a rusty coin - few coil swings more - silver! This felt good after a long break. It gave me confidence straight from the start, which is the most important factor in metal detecting. There is something interesting about this coin. Although (according to official info) the material is .900 silver, the surface looks plated with copper underneath! Usually this shouldn't happen. Does that mean, that my coin is a counterfeit, not minted by the government? In this case it would make it special. More info on the coin: en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces281323.html When a strong, shallow signal appeared, my first impression was: "this has to be trash". In a trashy spot that's usually the first thing that comes to mind. I couldn't be more wrong. The moment when a massive Roman coin popped out of the ground felt a little bit surreal. It appears to be a (so called) "Sestertius" with "Diva Faustina II" dated A.D. 176-180. What a surprise. Here is how a similar coin looks like: wildwinds.com/coins/sear5/s5230.html Once again a lonely Roman find... The rest of this hunt was surprisingly good as well with a thimble and a few older coins. I don't think I have to mention that my (wildest) expectations have been exceeded. EDIT: I returned to this spot with an even bigger surprise: youtu.be/D3veAFh1d1s You may also like this adventure with a huge reward at the very end: youtu.be/R_czwtQhQyQ I hope you enjoyed this outing as well.
