Description: The eighth in a series from Quantum Gravity Research, each episode focusing on a different scientist, their origins and backgrounds, where their love of science started and how they came to work at QGR. Todd Rowland works on mathematics and computation to help develop a theory for fundamental physics. He received a mathematics Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1999, and for 17 years he worked at Wolfram Research. Among other things, he helped run a summer school to teach Stephen Wolfram’s A New Kind of Science. His interests include experimental mathematics, basic education, and computation with simple rules.
