Description: Welcome to the OFF-GRID YURT FAMILY! Subscribe to our channel: bit.ly/22LGXK7 After building a couple of bird feeders and installing them on posts, Brock installed a device to keep the squirrels off them. But this feeder was intended for the squirrels. Attached to a tree outside the kitchen window of the yurt, the kids get to enjoy regular visits from various squirrels, chipmunks, and birds. We certainly didn't expect this night-time visitor - a flying squirrel! Flying squirrels don't actually have wings, but extra skin that they can stretch out as the glide - not fly, from tree to tree. They have distinct features, their eyes are very large. This helps them to see better at night, as they are nocturnal animals. We named this friendly squirrel Zippy. We're not sure if Zippy is a she or he, but Zippy is a welcome part of the many encounters with nature we've had since building and moving into our yurt. Stay tuned to our channel for more off-grid updates and features of the products we simply cannot live without in our off-grid abode. Marta and I, our two kids and two dogs, living off-grid with nothing but a wood stove. From that point forward, life as we knew it would change completely. I would be lying if I said we knew what we were getting into. But over the course of the following three years, we made that yurt our home. We worked in it, played in it, and most importantly, made MEMORIES in it. We totally fell in love with our yurt. 11 years ago, Marta and I started “Fit For Two TV” to share our healthy living habits (exercise and vegan food) with you. Now, we feel the time has come to shift gears. Over the next few months we will be sharing the next chapter of our journey (and beyond) as we pack up, take our yurt down, move, and re-build our yurt in its new location. As we continue to learn, play, and grow, we will share our adventures with you! - The Off-Grid Yurt Family
