On purpose, I made it look quite busy and colorful because I knew I'd be covering some of it up with these photos. I think the map by itself is a really cool visual, but the intention was to have it display wedding photos for a friend which is the reason for the additions made in this video. It's really unique too, because of the nature of the map, each of the photos is at a slightly different level following the real terrain of Vermont. To achieve this I used the CNC to drill holes to mount the standoffs in, which seems simple, but because of the variations in the surface it would have been miserable to try to do by hand and get holes all at the same depth. Then, I also used it to level out the stand-offs. Even though I cut each set of 4 posts to the same length, there was inevitably some variation once I glued them in place so the CNC made quick work of that, shaving them all to the same height. This mounting technique is something that could be done on many different styles of projects too so it's definitely an idea I'm going to be holding in my back pocket for the future. ► Full build article - Coming soon Notable Materials & Tools used on this build: Materials - Aluminum standoffs - mcmaster.com/93330A473 - Standoff screws - mcmaster.com/91099A218 - Acrylic sheets - Blue tape - CA glue & activator - amzn.to/2YtkDrn - Quick set epoxy - amzn.to/2LuHHCB Tools - Bluetooth hearing protection - bit.ly/303jqYj - X-Carve CNC - bit.ly/2FLiqjB - 1/4" end mill bit - bit.ly/2FNxcXs - 1/8" end mill bit - bit.ly/2FPPPtB - 90 degree v-bit - bit.ly/2J7SRLT - Screw gun - amzn.to/2J7Hjs7 - Belt sander - amzn.to/2Xm1gz8 - Buffing wheel set - amzn.to/2LDaDIJ - Magnetic shims - amzn.to/2Lxmmbv - Dremel - amzn.to/2xqeS1Z ———————————— \\\\\ GENERAL PANDERING LINKS \\\\\ ■ Website - jackmanworks.com ■ YouTube - youtube.com/jackmanworks ■ Instagram - instagram.com/jackman_works ■ Twitter - twitter.com/jackmanworks ■ GIFs - giphy.com/channel/jackmanworks ■ Facebook - facebook.com/jackmanworks Plans, stickers, t-shirts, etc: jackmanworks.com/shop Shoutout to my top Patreon supporters! - Dave Soetanto - Erik Finnestead - Leif Hietala - Steven Ingles - Old-School DIY (@gfc62) - Jeffery Nichols - Scott Brooks - Greg Gihooly - Chad from ManCrafting ———————————— \\\\\ MUSIC \\\\\ ■ Dylan Sitts - Detergent ■ OTE - Let's Go Back ■ Matt Large - The Wait Is Over Music from Epidemic Sound.
