Do it all with what you already have! Julianne shows you how! #growfood #slowfood #vegetablegarden #wintergardening #homestead #dirtpatcheaven September nights freeze here in our zone 4. The outside garden is done, dead and gone. The hotbeds in the backyard have not frozen and the hotbed in the greenhouse is still subtropical. We still have basil, figs, peppers, and tomatoes in the greenhouse that are unfazed by the cold. The reason for this is that the hotbed is full of old cardboard, old bedding from animals, sawdust and rabbit manure. It is a giant compost pile that I planted into in March when the weather was similar to what it is now, just the days were colder than they are now. Aside from the hotbed there is no other heat supplied at night when the temps are in the 30's. I do not cover the plants with frost cloth. The greenhouse is not air tight, having good sized holes around some of the doors and windows. The paper books I learn from are here (I try not to purchase on Amazon but if you want the books these are affiliate links that pay me a small amount) Stand Up and Garden: amzn.to/3CYwFNc Hotbeds: amzn.to/2Y1BR3X Dehydrator: amzn.to/3CTnm1d I have some simple ebooks explaining the basics of my hotbeds in my etsy store below. ******************************************* Etsy Store: etsy.com/shop/dirtpatcheaven Check out our T-Shirts here : bit.ly/2MHiM0q Find us everywhere online Website: bit.ly/2Nlktjy Pinterest: bit.ly/2M4XXXi Email: dirtpatcheaven@gmail.com ************************************************ Get wonderful seeds for your garden year round!
