Description: From a Silver Maple tree, planted by a dear friend since passed on, cut down with extreme prejudice by the local electric company a few days ago, and claimed by me... This is the first of a few legacy pieces I'll be making from this special tree. Lasting and hopefully beautiful legacy or heirloom bowls that will be given back to her family over time. This log measured in at over 28% moisture content, so it was a wet one to turn. But I like green turning, and have great success with them not checking or cracking as long as I turn them thin...and that's just what I do in this video.
