Description: The small but terrible? No, the small but powerful, Lightning Lab LLBA-1500.1F Class D circuit full-range / full-bridge mono block car amplifier - Output power test and review. It's a single channel full-range/full-bridge Class D circuit power amplifier. Said to have an internal components in a military specification audiophile grade and quality. And is able to handle a stable 1 Ohm load. It has LPF and HPF variable crossover potentiometers. HPF covers 10Hz to 1KHz frequency range while LPF covers 50Hz to 20KHz. Factory label indicated that it is equipped with a thermal and short-overloading protection. Wow, all that are way too promising, only one way to find out is to put the product into a test! Amp dyno without an amp dyno style though. Product specifications: - 650w power output at 4 Ohms - 1050w power output at 2 Ohms - 1500w power output at 1 Ohm - Less than 0.1% THD - 10Hz to 20KHz frequency response - Greater than 85dB signal to noise ratio - A 0.2 to 6V input sensitivity - 180mm x 233mm x 69mm product dimensions TIMELINE: 00:00 - Product unboxing 00:25 - 4 AWG power and 8 AWG speaker terminals 00:35 - Built-in clipping indicator led 00:45 - The very obvious typographical error on product labeling. W T F! 01:00 - Hook up amp for testing. Amplifier power up routine check cycle. 01:25 - Active cooling kicks in when amp is turned on. 01:55 - 40Hz Sine wave tone 02:10 - Turning up gain and bass boost controls until clipping. 02:25 - Built-in clip indicator clips at 48V AC while oscilloscope shows clipping at 55V AC. Amplifier's built-in clipping indicator led turns on before the actual clipping point is reached as displayed on the oscilloscope. This is a very good thing because it warns the user earlier than the actual clipping voltage do damage to the system. 03:00 - Lightning Lab LLBA-1500.1F optimal system output voltage is 40V AC. Verified product output power on no load test is 1600w at 1 Ohm or 800w at 2 Ohms, using Ohm's Law formula P = V² / R Charcoal Monkey's Product Review: PROS - This amplifier is very efficient in terms of price to watt value. - Amp has a very small foot print. Easy installation and wire management into cars and trucks. - The early clipping indication prevents further damage to subwoofer and to the amp itself. - Full coverage of crossovers and accuracy. CONS - Should be better if equipped with Tiffany style RCA input terminals. - And the dreaded typographical error on product labeling.
