We do most of the knife shaping with an angle grinder. And heat treat it in a camp fire and kitchen oven. This is a very easy knife making project that can be completed in a day. And you will have a knife that will chop through anything! The steel that is used is the most important part of this project. 1080 and 1084 are the best steel for beginner knife makers. They are the easiest steel to heat treat for beginner knife makers.
