They suggest that the retaliation in the verse is through diyyah (blood money fine) instead of physical retribution. Meaning that no innocent person can be killed using this verse while never committing a crime. It's a far-fetched explanation given that Diyyah isn't mentioned in the verse itself, but renders this argument weak and not one I would recommend anyone using given this new info.
