My new song “Goodbye, Good Luck” is out today! 🌹 This song was inspired by my first job out of college. I worked at an accounting firm for one year, and I learned so much from it. For about 8 months of that year, I worked anywhere from 60-80 hours a week. The company was understaffed, everyone was overworked, and I was young and naive and didn’t know how to say no when my boss came to me with more tasks to do. I got home around 2am after taking the subway home, while my friends at other jobs got home at 6pm. I was sucked so deeply into the tiring nature of that job that I couldn’t think about the bigger picture. “Is this what I wanted to do for the rest of my life?” At some point I realized that there were better things in my horizon beyond that job. Almost exactly a year later, I sent in my notice and left without a single ounce of hesitation. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Here’s what I learned: 1. You can say “NO.” 2. If you respect your company’s time, they should respect yours as well. No one wants to work for a boss who asks for too much. 3. There’s always something else you can do.
