A ceasefire has been agreed between Israel and the Palestinian militant Hamas however this comes after a month of violence from Israel and a month of rising tensions in Jerusalem. This war on Palestine has been going on for decades and really began in 1948 when Israel started taking over the Palestine land. Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians fled and were forced out of their homes in what is now called Al Nakba, or the "Catastrophe". By the time the fighting ended in a ceasefire the following year, Israel controlled most of the territory. This is similar to what is happening in Sheikh Jarrah right now with Palestinian families being kicked out of their home. In 2021, things have escalated since the start of the holy Muslim month of Ramadan in mid-April 2021, with nightly clashes between police and Palestinians.The threatened eviction of some Palestinian families in East Jerusalem has also caused rising anger. As Muslim YouTubers and influencers, we wanted to spread awareness about the situation in Palestine and inform as many people about the war on Palestine. We first set up an Free Palestine information booth in New York City and later we ended up buying a Free Palestine billboard on one of the busiest highways in the nation.
