When Steve turned 15, Dad told him he had to think for himself if he wanted pocket money. When Steve couldn't afford an ice cream or a coffee anymore, he knew he really had to find a solution. There were plenty of ideas in his teenage mind but all of them were so implausible Steve never even got around to trying them out. Steve's Granny lived across the town and he'd do grocery shopping for her. She'd pay him 40 or 60 cents or even just let him keep the change. His total earnings reached $1.5 on a good day, not nearly enough for his needs. Then, Steve tried to make a deal with Mom to get paid for good grades. She offered him 75 cents for every A and 45 cents for every B he got. It was fun to watch his profits grow at first, but when Steve went into the red by the end of the week, the idea lost its appeal. The guy who sat in front of Steve in class was a known bonehead but he had wealthy parents and plenty of pocket money. Steve decided to take advantage of that. The dude behind him, on the other hand, was an outstanding student who excelled in all subjects. He was also a very kind person who'd give a shirt off his back to help someone. And he'd always solve tests for the entire class. Steve worked out the usual path of the cheat notes that were passed around the class. There were four students sitting in front of Steve, so he could pass notes over to them for a fee. He received some money for the first solution, some more for the second one, but it was the golden boy who paid him for the solution to the third and hardest test problem. And Steve would charge him so much it was a week's worth of pocket money. The boy never objected: he was content with passing the exam with a B. The arrangement lasted almost six months and Steve didn't hesitate to charge his classmate for every little thing at every lesson. Dad was curious about the source of Steve's increasing profits. However, hearing his son didn't break any laws put his mind at ease. Steve enjoyed his business plan greatly until it backfired on him. The gifted student missed class on the day of an exam and Steve didn't want to lose his money. He tried to solve the test for the golden boy himself but of course he failed and the deal was blown. But a fortunate incident made Steve rich again. In November 2016, Steve was walking home when a man in a dark coat suddenly showed up in front of him. He threw his coat open and Steve saw a colorful bunch of fidget spinners sewn to its liner. His eyes lit up and he used all the spare change he had on hand to buy a few of the toys. He showed his new purchase to his friends in the yard. They all vied to buy a fidget spinner from him and Steve happily charged them three times what he had paid. Now that was a deal! He returned to the bus stop where he met the mysterious man but he found no trace of him until a week later. The man noticed Steve's excitement and offered him to team up. He supplied Steve with these gismos, which received more hype with each passing day. Steve worked in the district where he lived and the two other town districts were his partner's territory. Steve quickly made enough money to procure the fidget spinners in larger quantities, so his profits kept growing. But one day, Steve's partner lashed out at him because he thought Steve was doing business in his district. He seized Steve by the collar and yelled. Steve realized he was nuts. He ditched his partner and started working solo. After scouring the Internet, Steve was happy to learn he could easily purchase fidget spinners wholesale from China and they'd even be way cheaper. He collaborated with small shops and stalls to become one of the main suppliers of fidget spinners in his town. Dad was proud of Steve. He attributed his son's success to his own good parenting. Steve didn't really argue. Fidget spinners remained an incredibly hyped-up gismo in 2017, which let Steve save up his first $10,000. He used the money to buy a new smartphone and a fancy laptop. He also took a coding course. To thank his parents properly, Steve took Mom to the Caribbean for a vacation. He realized one can live differently by setting goals and achieving them. This is how he paved his own road to success by buying three fidget spinners with the last of his money. Right now, Steve makes a living thanks to the coding course. He creates websites, works in Photoshop, and develops applications for sale. Steve's only 20 years old but he already has an advice for young people: don't wait to be handed things. Find whatever you're keen on and take it. Then, keep advancing in that direction to reap massive intellectual and financial profits. #MyStory
