Description: How To Tip Your Sailboat So You Can Fix or replace Centerboard Keel Line. At some point as a vintage sailboat owner you'll be faced with this repair. This how to guide technique is called "Careening" the sailboat. We're using an O’Day 21 Sailboat for this video guide. The rope that drops and pulls up the Sailboat centerboard / keel had slowly deteriorated from usage. The original sailboat centerboard line lasted over 30 years! This video illustrates the easiest way to tip your sailboat so you can access and repair your sailboat's centerboard line. We are using the main halyard line to pull and tip the sailboat on it's side. You won't bend your sailboat mast. The mast is designed to handle force from your main sheet while sailing. Been interesting hearing feedback about this video, One side says "Too dangerous, you should have brought boat to Marina and paid for a Lift" while others say "This is how Sailers make repairs when they're away from any resources." Somebody also mentioned we could have tied to a tree versus holding the line. There is no Marina on Minneapolis Chain Of Lakes Regional Park. This video was recorded on Lake Nokomis. There is no Marina or boat lift on Lake Harriet or Bde Maka Ska or similar resources on any of the public lakes in Minneapolis. I published this guide as alternative to using a service in a boat yard which can be expensive. It's also safer than trying to elevate your sailboat off your trailer with wood stands. Thank you to everyone at Lake Nokomis who helped the Martin's.
