Description: Help-seeking is considered an important self-regulated learning strategy and key to success in student assessments. Help-seeking may happen through in-class inquiry, but there are cohorts of students who are unlikely to participate in verbal inquiry during class for many reasons. For these students, alternative paths to help-seeking are beneficial. In class, anonymous backchannels are being shown to increase the volume of inquiry and the breadth of participants. Outside of class, the ability to find supporting materials based on the use of artificial intelligence hold promise. In this talk, examples of both will be demonstrated along with research supporting their value to students. Speaker: Perry Samson Professor of Atmospheric Science University of Michigan
