If you can’t swim, you don’t jump in the deep end right away. So if you can’t handstand, don’t try neck stall handstanding first. You will need soft ground like grass, a gym mat or thick carpet. Something soft! Practice pushing up into a handstand 10 times without the ball or until you feel comfortable. Your legs do not have to go completely vertical. We just want to get familiar with getting our legs up in the air. If you have a wall handy, start your handstand practice using a wall for support. Against the wall hold your handstand for about 10 seconds at a time. The longer the better as you feel stronger, but do not try holding it as long as you can until burn out! You need to stay in control, not collapse on your head. Once comfortable get the ball out, neck stall it and have fun transitioning into a neck stall handstand! Once really comfortable, start the neck stall from a foot stall or touch instead of using your hands. ----- What’s Wrong: If the ball is falling off your neck your head is facing down. Get your head up to create a wall the ball can lean against in the pocket of your neck. ----- Bonus Tip! Stay in control! If you are throwing yourself as fast as possible into a handstand position you are probably going to be shaky and the ball will un stall itself to the ground.
