Description: How to remove the front door panel on a third generation Dodge Ram. This is a 2006 1500 model truck, you may find some slight differences with the early third generation models. For this, I will be working with the driver’s door as an example. #dodgeram #dodge #mopar Amazon links for various products used in the video for both USA and Canada: USA Interior trim screw assortment: amzn.to/3d0OKA8 Canada Interior trim screw assortment: amzn.to/39XD8fj Website: 4diyers.com Patreon: patreon.com/4diyers Facebook: facebook.com/4diyers Twitter: twitter.com/4DIYers Instagram: instagram.com/4diyers Tumblr: 4diyers.tumblr.com Pintrest: pinterest.com/4diyers Tools/Supplies Needed: -T40 torx driver or 10mm socket with extension and ratchet -nylon trim tool -phillips screwdriver Chapters: 00:00 Intro 00:20 Removal 01:02 Power Window Switch Panel Removal 01:34 Backside View 02:02 Installation Procedure: Start by removing the door handle. This is held on with one bolt, a T40 torx driver or 10mm socket can be used here. You may need to pull the handle up slightly to access the bolt depending on what tools you’re using. Then pull off the handle. Next is removing the phillips screw almost directly behind where that handle was located. Remove another phillips screw at the top of the panel behind the mirror. And finally, there are two more phillips screws at the bottom of the door panel, one of mine was missing. Using a nylon trim tool, pop up the switch panel of the power mirrors and window. There are tabs all the way around, most of mine were broken unfortunately which explains why the panel was loose. Disconnect the two electrical connectors on the rear, there is a tang that needs to be depressed, then pull straight out. After that is lifting the panel straight up to disconnect the tangs on the backside. Here is a view behind the panel. There are no clips, it uses tangs that fit into slots on the door, which holds the panel in place. Behind the panel on the door, the square slots are where the tangs fit into place. Reinstalling the panel can be a bit tricky. Make sure the pull lock it up, then put the panel into place. You’ll need to lock it into place, both with the tangs on the backside and along the top edge in the window seal. The lock trim piece can also be pushed out, it just snaps into place. This may help with installation if it’s removed. You’ll know right away if the tangs aren’t in the correct position if you’re finding spaces between the panel and door. Inspect around the door panel. Even look inside the storage compartment, the outer and inner shell is two pieces. If the clips are not locked into place, you’ll see a larger space inside. Reinstall the phillips screw up at the mirror location. Install the screw behind the door handle. For installing the door handle, partly start the bolt in the handle. Run it in by handle first ensuring it’s not cross-threaded, then tighten. If you are having issues with the bolt coming loose, medium grade threadlocker can be used. One screw was missing and the other was rusty, so I ended up purchasing a trim screw kit online which is filled with various common sizes. I found a couple of matching screws that worked for this application. A link to this kit will be in the video description. Install both screws. As for the window and mirror switch panel, there are tangs around the outside that holds it into place. This is a replaceable piece, either through the dealer or I have seen some online suppliers, however, I haven’t been able to find over for a regular cab truck. Connect the plugs on the bottom and then snap the panel back into place. Ensure the windows and mirrors are working and you’re officially done.
