Description: Learn More: bit.ly/3euTiyQ An 8-week course on creating feature-film-quality destruction effects for film. In this course, the student will learn how to evaluate a scene and its structures to develop a fracture workflow. With this, they will learn how to art direct fractures, as well as create some procedural fractures for smaller, less hero assets. Taking this fractured assets, We will throw them into RBD simulations, working on different methods of activation and scale of the different structures. We will add some secondaries debris, along with some dust and smoke, as well as small pebbles and cracking for that extra attention to detail. By the end of the course, the students will have all the knowledge required to destroy any given asset of any type of material and in any way that can be asked in production. They will also have a solid understanding of workflow, fracturing, art direction, simulation and attention to detail. LECTURE TYPE: Pre-recorded FEEDBACK: Individual recordings DURATION: 8 weeks ASSIGNMENT: Due each week. Expect to spend 10-15 hours per week viewing lecture videos, participating in q&a's, and working on assignments. Live Q&A: Once a week MATERIALS: Houdini 17 or higher (free apprentice version or any other) SKILLS LEVEL: Intermediate PREREQUISITES: Navigation in houdini UI, basic sop manipulation, understanding of core mathematic concepts about vectors.
