In it, I explain how to get a bigger sound by focusing attention on just 2 notes from inside a key. This lesson is all about playing two notes of the scale together to beef-up the sound of a melodic guitar line. The effect this technique creates is not just simple, but it’s one of the best ways to offer more impact. With practice this technique becomes easy. I promise you, that if you follow what I’m showing you then you will finally get your melody lines and solos to start packing more punch. To begin with as always, it helps to review a little bit of basic music theory for scales and keys. The 2-note sound, (as the name implies), produces a small harmony comprised of a root and a “major” or “minor” third. The two notes are not a full chord, (3 notes are required to create a full chord in music), but two notes do make up one half of the overall structure of a full chord. This lesson will demonstrate how the two notes can be studied and then how these notes can be applied musically in several situations.
