Note that in the original PS2 version vol.3, you can only do one of these in total, so good thing they fixed that for the remaster. Tips for affection: -Give gifts often (make it ones they could use for the class) -Always answer emails with a reply that matches their personality (FAQs online) and send greeting cards that match them -Trading helps and they often have good items available -Doing a characters favourite action in battle and/or Rengeki will increase them, so look up those actions and bring varied party members to dungeons -By far, kicking God Chim Chims is the best, it's tedious to keep finding them but the increase to friendships ludicrously higher than any other method. A good place to farm them: (Delta) Elegant Barren BBQ Plate, it's on the other side of the hill. -Ovan's is triggers after finishing vol.4 and getting to the end of the dungeon he asks you to go to.
