This technique has been around for years, but guitarist “Eddie Van Halen” brought it forward into the main-stream during the 1980’s. His instrumental guitar song “Eruption” was not only a big hit, but it also worked this two-handed tapping technique into the main-stream. The technique itself involves mixing tapping done by the fret-hand along with tapping done by the pick-hand. In this lesson we’ll study popular approaches for two hand tapping that will include; single and double taps, tapping off a fretted tone, Van Halen Style Tapping, tapping into open strings and crossing strings during a tapping run.
