Description: Floor tile will fail, don't tile over this. Add Blocking. For a successful tile installation, the plywood subfloor must meet minimum requirements, or the tile floor will crack and fail. The plywood subfloor must be tongue and groove, if it is not the seems spanning the space between joists will not be supported, the joints will move and the result over time will be cracked failing tile. To fix this problem, blocking must be added where the plywood spans a joist bay and is unsupported. All tile installed by Sal DiBlasi, Elite-tile Company, in the Boston North Shore area.
