Description: In this EPF Episode, I go back to the "Harrah's Spot" at the Absecon Bay in Atlantic City, NJ, in hopes of catching a bunch of Hickory Shad! [October 19th, 2021 (Fishing Session Number 80)] Read more about it below: Did you know that...? 🌅...I landed my first ever Hickory Shad (Alosa mediocris) a few feet from this particular spot, on May 23rd, 2012. The Shad actually hit a full sized Zoom Fluke on a 1/4 oz. jighead. That's how aggressive these fish are!!! 🌅...Despite having a lot of bones, a lot of people actually eat the Shad -- they consider it to be a delicacy. As a matter of fact, according to history, even George Washington and his troops feasted on American and Hickory Shad back in the days, in 1776 and 1778. Some say that the early Spring run of Shad in 1778 may just have saved the Continental Army from starvation!!! 🌅...The Hickory Shad is a species that lives only up to seven years; thus, if you have ever caught or seen one, keep in mind that the fish is less than a decade old. 🐟 Support the Channel by rocking some EPF Merchandise!!!
