The reason why this is so important is, holding the guitar the wrong way will make it so that chords will buzz and /or your fingers will touch other strings. This How to Hold a Guitar" solves that problem and is highly highly recommended before you move onto learning other chords. It will literally save you weeks, months, even years of frustration.
