Description: If you type a date with a two digit year, Excel treats anything up to 29 as being 2029. Once you get to 30, though, they assume you mean 1930. With 2030 only eight years away, it might be time to adjust this. Microsoft tries to document how, but the Help topic does not match the Windows 10 Control Panel. This video shows you how to find the settings. Fixing the 2029 Rule in Excel. Update!!! If you leave the setting at 2049, Excel won't respect the setting. You have to change it, even to 2050 and then it starts to work. You can change it to 2050, click OK, Test it, then Change it back to 2049 and it works. Apparently, if you never touch the setting, leaving it at 2049, then Excel keeps using the 2029 rule. Here is a short video showing how you have to change it for it to work: youtube.com/watch?v=Hw83Yhq8NF4 For a Mac, it is Excel / Preferences / Edit, then follow the screenshot here: twitter.com/MrExcel/status/1481225098879246338
