Description: In this EPF episode, I "ESLAY" some Brazilian Catfish with my parents, and with my fellow Lifelister and friend Felipe Santos, on the Rio Itanhaém in São Paulo, Brazil. He is the one who helped me identify most of the species of fish that I caught down in Brazil! 🐱🐟...There were actually THREE different species of the genus "Genidens" around the area. However, at the time, we thought one of them -- the "Genidens machadoi" -- didn't really range there. 😅 The "machadoi" is different from the "genidens" for not having the two apparent lobes inside of its mouth, and it is different from the "barbus" for having BLACK whiskers under its mouth (similar to a Brown Bullhead VS Yellow Bullhead ID). I may have caught some "machadoi" there that day...and not taken photos of it. Hahaha. 🐱🐟...In the Brazilian fishing culture, the majority of the anglers harvest fish. Thus, the sport fishermen are the outsiders. Locals will often get really angry at you if you release your catch instead of giving it to them for consumption. This phenomenon is similar to that episode of River Monsters, where Jeremy Wade gives away his Tigerfish in Africa. Sometimes it is better to comply with the locals instead of going against them!!!
